Chemoembolization* is a procedure that is most commonly used in the UK for liver cancer.
Professor Thomas Vogl , Frankfurt, Germany, has been studying its uses with Mesothelioma and has had some success.
One of these successes is Debbie Brewer who, at the age of 47, was told she had 6-9 months to live. That was in November 2006.
She started a website which has been an invaluable source of information, and visited a Dr in Harley Street who mentioned Professor Vogl?s trials.
She started to take Mistletoe* in April 2008 and a month later had her first trip to Germany to meet the Professor with the hope he could help her.
He performed the treatment in May 2008 and Debbie returned in June 2008 for a second treatment and was told the tumor had shrunk 10%.
After 5 treatments it has, so far shrunk 53% and she has been given a partial remission diagnosis and has been told the tumour MAY NOT return.
Many now feel that this treatment should be available in the UK as the treatments for Mesothelioma are limited to chemotherapy, radiotherapy or a major operation to remove the damaged lung.
We are currently campaigning to get trials started in the UK and give hope to many people who have this disease and got it through no fault of their own.
We hope you can help us with our cause.
*Chemoembolization - this involves passing a catheter through the femoral artery into the lung and targeting the tumor directly.
*Mistletoe - A therapy used to boost the immune system and educate it to fight the tumor. It is administered via injection in the abdomen.
Below are details of the next conference. Debbie Brewer will be giving a talk on her treatment along with another lady who is receiving treatment in America.
